Kirsten Diane MacDonald

Kirsten MacDonald was born and raised in Alberta and moved to Ottawa to be a prayer missionary at the National House of Prayer in 2008. She married in 2011. In 2015 during a pilgrimage to Częstochowa, Poland, she had a profound experience with Mary. Three weeks later, she was pregnant at 48 years old, "au natural".

Unfortuntely, she had breast cancer at the time. She had surgery under local anesthesia. After the operation she refused all chemo, all radiation and all drugs to protect her baby. Adessa was born healthy and Kirsten beat cancer naturally. It never came back.

Five years later she developed ALS, which she courageously battled for 4 years. She was a profound witness against euthanasia and made the entire journey drug free.

Kirsten passed into eternity peacefully in her sleep, December 19, 2024. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep love for her family, friends, and community, and for her inspiring courage in the face of life’s greatest challenges.

Kirsten is survived by her beloved husband David and their 8 year old daughter Adessa. She will be missed by her mother, Margaret and her 3 sisters, Laverne (Perry), Rachael (Randy), and Regina (Darryl). She also leaves behind 8 nieces and nephews. Kirsten was preceded in death by her father Paul Harty. She will be sadly missed by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, and dear friends.

The family would like to extend their thanks to all the caregivers, nurses, and management from Closing the Gap, for their excellent service and care, and to the Algonquin Family Health Team.
