Jean leaves behind two sisters , Pat McKendrick of Vancouver and Elaine Dechka of Brandon .

Jean was born Dec.10, 1928 in Brandon, Manitoba. She studied to be a registered nurse and her work took her to the Yukon, where she met George. They were married in 1957 and moved to Ontario in 1960. They lived in Huntsville until 1969 when work took them to Lindsay. George and Jean retired to Little Pells Lake, outside of Huntsville, in 1986.

Jean was very active in the United Church, both in Huntsville and Lindsay. She loved to sing and was in the choir until she was 90 and mobility issues stopped her.

Jean moved to Rogers Cove Retirement Residence, Huntsville in 2010, where she met many wonderful people over her 14 years there.

Jean was blessed to have had excellent care from her doctors , Dr. Dan Morton and Dr. Nick Biasutti. They showed her endless compassion , which was most appreciated.

The family would also like to thank Julie and Stephanie ,from Rogers Cove ,for going above and beyond over the years for Jean.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Algonquin Grace Hospice Huntsville. The staff there are truly angels on earth.

A celebration of Jean’s life will take place on Friday,  May 3, 2 pm, at Trinity United Church, 33 Main Street, East, Huntsville.
