Ruth Cope-Healey (Deer)- born October 21, 1943 in Scarborough, ON. – she passed away peacefully surrounded by her children in her home on Bay Lake, on October 17, 2019 at the age of 75. Ruth was a local resident in Bay Lake, but spent many years in Lethbridge, and Carmangay Alberta, and before that was a resident on Locke’s Road, Novar. Our mother was a big supporter of her church, where she sang in the choir and volunteered her time in support of her church, Harmony United Church in Kearney. She was also a lifelong supporter of people with special needs, and ran a group home where she supported many people that needed love and care. In fact, her legacy is one of advocacy to obtain the rights of people who would otherwise be unsupported in our society.

Her husband, Don Healey of Bay Lake, predeceased her. She will be missed by her children, Anna Cope, Maureen Cope (James), Calvin Cope, and Jill Cope (Brent)., and Keith Northpeigan. She will also be missed by her brother Kenneth Deer (Lila), and her previously deceased brother Harvey (Mike) Deer (Helen) as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friends and family who knew her.
