Erika Rung, age 93, passed away at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday December 18 2019.

Erika's husband, Kurt Rung, passed away in Huntsville Ontario in 2013.

Born September 14, 1926, in Kaiserslautern, Germany, Erika lived in Toronto Ontario prior to retirement. She enjoyed weekends and summers at their Muskoka Ontario cottage with family and friends for many decades. Prior to and after retirement Erika happily travelled with Kurt to Europe, the Caribbean and Florida. After retirement Erika moved with Kurt to Huntsville Ontario. Erika took great pleasure viewing her beautiful garden and receiving visits from family, friends and neighbours in her retirement years at her Huntsville home.

Survivors include her son, Klaus Rung, her daughter-in-law, Linda Rung, and her nephew, Fred Kallenbach.

Sincere gratitude is extended to staffs and associated resource personnel of: Huntsville District Memorial Hospital, Huntsville Palliative Care Team, Huntsville Geriatric Team, North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integrated Network, Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Paramed Nursing, The Friends, and Closing the Gap for the comfort and care provided to Erika. Thank you to her Huntsville Family Physician, Dr. S. P. Varieur for Erika's ongoing, supportive medical care. This collective, compassionate, collaborative care, coordinated with Linda and Klaus Rung, enabled Erika to live independently and successfully in her Huntsville home until December 13, 2019. Erika was active baking her famous apple torte December 12, 2019!
