Peter Liadis
Peter Liadis passed peacefully in the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on August 23, 2021 at the tender age of 90. For 59 years the loving husband of Vicki Liadis.
Peter is survived by his daughters Mary (Joe), Amalia (Jim) and his son Louis (Sharin). Peter will always be loved and missed by his seven grandchildren, Lucas, Marcus, Sara, Rachel, Samantha, John and Sophia. With the tragic passing of his neice and nephew’s parents over 30 years ago, Peter became a mentor to Amalia (Bobby) and Jim (Senay) and a Papou to George, Maria and Lily.
He is preceded in death by his sisters Metaxia and Pat, brothers Nick and Petro, and sister in laws Ritza and Tasia and brother in law George. He is survived by his elder brother Karl, younger brother Bill (Janet) and brother in law Deno. Peter was born on March 30, 1931 in Petrina, Greece. With his entrepreneurial spirit and his love of good food, he started up many restaurant businesses. In Huntsville, Peter’s Fine Dining would come to be known as a cottager’s dining destination. Peter was a social man who had a gift for connecting with people and as such he became a member of the Rotary Club. He enjoyed hosting the Rotary Club members for lively conversation and a tasty lunch during their weekly meetings.
Peter, along with Vicki, enjoyed their retirement travelling to Greece every summer for 20 years. They connected with family members and friends and joyously explored the countryside they had left behind for a better life in Canada. Peter loved living in his waterfront home in Muskoka. As a family man, his home was open and welcoming to everyone. He would happily take anyone who visited for boat rides and swims on the beautiful lakes.
In his spare time Peter enjoyed dabbling in carpentry. He became skilled and took on many home renovations that he actually finished. His mastery of numbers served him well with his Sudoku puzzles and his lifelong desire to learn kept him reading.
The family would like to extend their thanks for the care Peter received at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital over the last few years as well as from all the support workers during this time.
A private funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
To honour Peter’s memory, a celebration of life will take place with family and friends at his one year memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory to the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
