Georgina "Gina" Baum

We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Georgina “Gina” Victoria Baum, 85, of Dorset, Ontario. She passed away peacefully with family at her side, in the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital, on April 1, 2022 of cancer.

Gina was born on December 3rd, 1936, in Hungary. Gina, her parents and sister fled the horrors of WWII and lived in Germany and England, before moving to Toronto, Ontario, in the early 1950’s. She married Fred Baum and had two sons, Bobby and Mike. Later buying a marine on Kawagama Lake in Dorset. She became a realtor alongside Fred in a very successful real estate business, the legacy of which is presently carried on by her son, Mike and granddaughter Sabrina. Gina and Fred travelled often throughout past winters and came to love the island of Kauai, Hawaii. After the passing of Fred, Gina met Phil Poyntz at a Lion’s Club Christmas dinner and were married on October 10, 2010.

Phil’s wonderful family consists of his daughters, Kim , Karen and Cindy, and two sons, Larry and Guy, each with there own families. Gina and Phil travelled often and enjoyed a beautiful, loving marriage together in Dorset.

Gina was predeceased by her first husband, Fred Baum, her parents Etelka and Arpad Tiborc, sister Ildiko Francais and son Robert Baum. She is survived by her husband Philip Poyntz, and her son Mike, granddaughter Sabrina Baum and her niece Francais Mitchell and nephews; David Mitchell, Arpad and Tristan Francais and Oliver and Volker Lange.

Gina lived for her family and friends. She gave 100% from her heart and soul to all those who were around her. She will be dearly missed, but lives on within all of those she touched with her wonderfully giving, loving and warm personality.

Rest in peace Gina ( a.k.a, Mom and Granny), we love you and your memories will live on in us forever!

Burial service will be held in May, 2022 at Paint Lake Cemetery, Dorset, with a reception to follow, the dates will be posted here when confirmed. A Summer time 2022 Celebration of Life will be held, with details being posted on this site.
