John Malcolm Locke

 
 
 

John passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Feb 7,2025 in Huntsville. He was born on Dec 16,1949 in Virginiatown Ontario. He attended K.L.C.V.I. in Kirkland Lake and worked in his father's hardware store during that time. After highschool he attended the Anglican Church Army training college as a cadet and did some internships in Toronto as well as several towns in Northern Ontario while he was there. After the family moved back to the Lockes’s farm near Novar he went to the Ontario Agriculture College in Kemptville where he studied Animal Husbandry. For many years he was a Lay Reader and enjoyed leading the service and playing the organ at several Anglican churches in the area. During this time he worked on the farm, where all his cows were known by their own names, and also at the Perry Landfill Recycling Centre. He enjoyed fishing and hunting for moose, deer and partridge every season and making maple syrup in the spring.

Predeceased by his parents Lachlan and Dorothy (Wyatt) Locke. Loving brother to Hilda (Derek) Curtis, Helen (John) Haughton, Elizabeth Galvin and Susan (David) Sargant, and uncle to numerous nephews and nieces plus many great nephews and nieces. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Muskoka Landing Long Term Care Home for all the care and attention they gave to John during his stay there.

A celebration of his life and internment will be held in the spring
