Irene Fern Ellis (nee Blakelock)

In her 81st year, Irene passed peacefully at Huntsville, Ontario. Beloved wife to Donald Ellis (deceased) and loving father of Melissa and Derrick (deceased). Devoted grandmother to Harrison, Dani and Kyler and thoughtful mother- in-law to Mark and Sandy. Predeceased by her partner, Ronald Gregory.

Irene was known for her enthusiasm and creativity. She possessed tenacity and resilience in all facets of life. Irene delighted in social time and opportunities to explore creativity. Among her many talents, Irene was an artist, seamstress, knitter and painter. Her artistic skills were most often applied in her home and cottage projects. She enjoyed the process of renovating, restoring and filling her environment with colour and pizzazz.

Irene’s bubbly personality touched the lives of everyone around her. She was her grandchildren’s greatest cheerleader and found joy in sharing in their daily lives and attending their sporting events. Irene also enjoyed athletic activities and could be found swimming, walking or gardening.

Irene will be remembered and treasured for her community involvement and many cherished friendships. She had a very busy social schedule and remarkably, was still able to find time for all of her loved ones. Irene often surprised friends and family with baked goods and thoughtful cards.

A Gathering for Happy Memories and refreshments will take place on March 2, 2024 (2-4 p.m.) in Founders Hall (Algonquin Theatre), 37 Main Street, East, Huntsville. Spoken memories of Irene will be shared at approximately 3 p.m.
