Margaret Grace Ferguson
On Friday May 29th, 2020 Miss Margaret Grace Ferguson, beloved daughter of Lelah Ferguson (Massecar) and the Hon. Justice Robert I. Ferguson, died at Fairvern Nursing Home in Huntsville, Ontario.
Margaret's death follows her four brothers, twin Robert (architect in Huntsville), Allen, John and Gordon. Margaret's family has had an attachment and love for their summer property in the township of Lake of Bays which was first acquired by Margaret's aunt, Elizabeth D. Ferguson 90 years ago.
Margaret was born in Toronto, May 17, 1926. and worked for 50 years as conveyancer at what eventually became the Markle May, and Phibbs law firm in Toronto.
Margaret was a passionate supporter of the arts and museums. She was president and trustee of the Weir Foundation, where she initiated and developed the Samuel Weir Library of Art throughout 35 years of service. Margaret was also a supporter of the ROM, AGO, WWF and The Women's College Hospital.
Her optimism, humour, love of people and generosity of spirit are sorely missed by friends and family including her beloved nieces and nephews: Lelah, Robert, Jim, Mary Beth, David, Alec, Andrea, and Samantha, their spouses and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Margaret cherished her long time life-long friends and Tally Ho co-workers, Mrs. Wilva ( Billy Hill) Forrest and Mrs. Jeanne (nee Markle) Jenne, ever since her teenage years.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Chartwell Muskoka Traditions retirement home and and Fairvern Nursing Home for their service and care and give special thanks to Margaret's care provider in Toronto, Kim MacLaughlin.
A memorial service will not be in held until August or September due to the Covid pandemic. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Fairvern Nursing Home or Pioneer Memorial United Church, Hillside, Ontario.
