Born in Rosseau, Ontario on April 4, 1929 to Alexander and Eleanor Crawford. Barbara (Barb)
was one of 14 children and many others to grow up on their family's farm. At a young age Barb
moved to Gravenhurst to work at the Rubber Set, where she met her loving husband of 75
years, Mel.
Mel and Barb were married November 23rd 1946, and lovingly raised four children together.
After moving from their home in Gravenhurst, they purchased and ran a little general store in
Baysville for a few years, after which they moved to Huntsville, where they resided in their
beautiful home until spring of 2021.
One of Barb's most favorite things was to host many of their good friends to dinner, which more
often than not, resulted in a serious game of euchre. Anyone who knew Barb, knows that she
was one heck of a card player and she loved to win!
Square dancing together became another one of Barb's favorite evening events with her
husband. Mel and Barb met many good friends over the years dancing, some with whom they
still to this day cherish wonderful friendships with.
Family was her life, Barb loved to share pictures and tell everyone about her many
grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was so proud of her big beautiful family. Barb spent
many hours knitting sweaters, mitts, socks, afghans and toques for her grandkids. A smile to
her face seeing them don them, and of course lots of hugs and kisses to be shared.
Barbara will be dearly missed, her big beautiful smile, and kind-heartedness will be forever
cherished by those who knew and loved her. A beautiful soul both inside and out.
As per Barbara's request cremation has taken place, interment to be determined at a later date.
In memorial, donations can be made to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. A heartfelt thank you
goes out to the wonderful nurses who cared for her.
