Blaine David Maw
The day has come for us to say “see you later.”
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our Super Hero, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew. Blaine David Maw at the age of 57 left us far too soon in the arms of his girls on July 26, 2021. After the most courageous 8 year battle against his cancer. Blaine was always quick to get started with any and every type of ammunition to fight his cancer. He wasn’t a quitter and had such a strength and sense of humour which got us through the toughest times. He had his boxing gloves on until the end.
Blaine was born in Huntsville to the late Sam and Hilda Maw. He was the 2nd youngest of 11 children. Blaine leaves behind the love of his life and wife Kathy of 30 years (September). His pride and joy, daughter Kiley, soon to be son in law Ryan Harris, and his best buddy Bentley.
Siblings Linda Smith (predeceased), Sandy (Julien) Pelletier, Gary (Carol) Maw, Heather (Doug) Spiers, Darlene (Don) Rogers, Darrell (Rhonda) Maw, Bonnie (Rick) Jylha, Cheryl (John) Ranger, Leon (Lauretta) Maw, Lori (Mike) Welsh.
In-laws Isabel (Don) Watson, Robert (Sharon, predeceased)Dickson, Michelle Rogers (predeceased), Roxanne Vollans, Dan Dickson(Ashley), Shane Watson (Jen), Candace (Matt) Johnson and Angela Watson. A huge number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews-too many to name. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Blaine loved life, he was one of the most dedicated and loyal people we have ever known. Blaine took great pride and joy in his long career with the Town, working in many departments. But caring for the cemeteries and helping many families during the most difficult times was closest to his heart. He was a wealth of information, if ever you were trying to find a loved one in the cemetery. He always worked hard and perfected anything he put his mind to.
He was our life of the party always and made sure he was the last to leave. There were many visits over the years at our home where Blaine loved to have a beer and entertain us all with his crazy stories and antics.
We are forever grateful for the love and support we have received from family and friends throughout this journey and for an amazing medical team. A huge thank you to the “chemo” girls who were like extended family, Dr. Jindal, Dr. Small, Dr. Jennifer Macmillan, the palliative team, Dr. Erven, Dr. Stewart, Dr. NG, Dr. Sahgal, Meghan our homecare nurse, and so many more. You allowed us to do things our way and always gave the very best care and advice. Blaine loved the time he spent with each and everyone of you during some of the most difficult times in our lives.
We are forever grateful for you Blaine Maw, you have left a huge hole in our hearts. We will forever miss you but never forget.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the Huntsville Hospital (Chemo unit) or Huntsville Hospice.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will occur in September.
Please join us on Saturday September 18, 2021 at the Royal Canadian Legion to Remember and Celebrate Blaine’s Life. Due to covid restrictions, the numbers are limited so we will have a Remembrance/Eulogy at 1pm and from 2-4 a period of drop in visits to accommodate our numbers.
