Morris Eccles

Morris Eccles Obit (002).jpg

Morris Kenneth Eccles passed away suddenly and tragically on Friday, August 27th, 2021, at the age of 75, following a long struggle with mental health issues.

Moe is survived by his wife, Carole Stoddart, his sister Karen Zago (Dan), children Cassandra Oravecz (Jeff), Tamara Drummond (Gary), David Westmacott (Renee) Chad Westmacott (Chantal), and Sarah Westmacott (Paul). He is predeceased by his previous wife, Carol (nee Gillespie). Papa Moe will always be loved and missed by his ten grandchildren: Erin, Solange, Caleb, Ayanna, Riley, Carson, Kendall, Jonah, Annie and Josephine.

He is also predeceased by his parents, Mary and Kenneth Eccles, and his sister, Betty Eccles.

Morris was a farming man through and through - growing up on the family farm, and going from an early education in a one-room schoolhouse to building a successful agri-services business. The farm never left him though, as every season he always had a garden full of potatoes and tomatoes. Moe was an avid fisherman (any season!) and hunter, and loved snowmobiling and boating. He was known for his quirky sense of humour, stubborn views on politics, sharing his unique wisdoms ("you can't push on a rope") and "Billy stories".

Morris also believed in giving back to the community, being a member, and President, of Huntsville-Lake of Bays Rotary Morning Club, and volunteered for the Huntsville Hospital Foundation and the Lake of Bays Association for many years.

A COVID-respectful visitation will occur at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 11- 12:30. A private funeral service will be held following (by invitation only), and will be accessible to all via live-stream (see Mitchell's website).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Morris's memory to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation (https://huntsvillehospitalfoundation.ca/ways-to-give/) or the Canadian Mental Health Association Muskoka - Parry Sound (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/18314) would be appreciated.
