Reverend James Ernest Albert White born October 31, 1934 passed away peacefully with family at home on Friday August 27, 2021 at the age of 86.  Jim was the loving father  of two daughters, Stacey (Ron Hobday) and Carolyn (Scott Jones) Proud Grandfather of Mitchell, Liam and Hudson of Parker, Colorado.

 Predeceased by Parents Ernest White (1979) and Gladys (Nicholls)White (2002) and partner Bill Rusk.  Jim was the longest surviving member of the four children, Barbara (Peter)Smith, Dorothy (Stan) Huntington, and Teddy White which produced many nieces and nephews.

Jim was born in the City of Toronto, working at Union Station in the clerks office, Simpsons Department store on Jarvis, in the advertising department for the catalogue and then tried his hand at a few other advertising agencies along the way.  In the 1960’s Jim became an entrepreneur with his small one-man business designing plexiglass display units for the shopping retailer.

In the early 1980’s Jim went back to school for a variety of studies which rewarded him a master’s degree in divinity from Emmanuel College in Toronto.  Jim was ordained in 1984 into the United Church of Canada, when his adventures in the ministry took him to new locations across southwestern Ontario.  Jim was pleased to be apart of such communities as Southampton, Mount Hope, Peterborough, Holstein, Castorville, Port Rowan, Dexter, Port Stanley, Rodney, West Lorne, Dawn Valley, Dresden, Rutherford, Oil Springs and finally serving and settling in Bothwell, Ontario.  Jim retired in 2016 at the joyful age of 82.       

Along life’s way, Jim’s simple pleasures were flowers in the garden, opera singing and restoring heritage homes to live in.  Family and community was very important to Jim and with his wonderful wit, warm heart, and positive outlooks on each day many were very blessed to have “The Rev” a part of their world.

  A private family service will be held on Thursday September 2, 2021, and a public memorial will be held in Bothwell, Ontario at a later date.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Bothwell United Church, all are welcome
