It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Edwin Charles Houser on August 2nd, 2021 at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (Huntsville) with loved ones at his side.

Edwin will be deeply missed by his sisters Marion (Bill) Nickalls and Angela (Paul) Graves.  Uncle Ed was a loved uncle to LeeAnne, Lori, Karen, Grant and Lisa and a special great-uncle to Brendan, Megan, Tanner, Jack, Tyler, Brayden, Lexie and Brooke. He will also be remembered by his extended family, many cousins and friends.

Ed was born in Huntsville on September 12th, 1941. He attended school in Haileybury and Huntsville. While attending Huntsville High School, Edwin worked at Boyd’s Grocery Store. He later worked as an orderly at the Huntsville Hospital and was taught to operate the x-ray machine. Edwin continued his career in various departments in hospitals in Toronto and Montreal.

Edwin enjoyed researching on his computer and had a great interest in stamps and coins.

Although Edwin enjoyed his life in the big cities, his return to Huntsville brought him joy as he was surrounded by his extended family. Ed lived at the Legion Manor and then moved to Muskoka Landing in 2015. Many thanks to the staff at Muskoka Landing for their care and support over the years. Edwin’s family appreciated the excellent care and compassion received from the staff at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (Huntsville) during this difficult time.

A private family service will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home.

As Edwin’s career revolved around helping others in various hospital settings, donations to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers. www.mitchellfuneralhome.ca
