Agata Palermo
On September 13, 2022, after a long illness, Agata Palermo (nee Mascioli) passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital (Civic) at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family.
Agata was predeceased by her husband, Ettore (Hector), and her brother, Mario. She is survived by her children, Franca, Hector, and Mariann; by her sons-in-law, Peter and Michael; and by her grandchildren, Alex and Ashley, who were the light of her life.
Agata was born in Cocullo, Italy, and came to Canada in 1965 to join her husband. She lived in Huntsville for over 50 years, and it became her home. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and volunteering at the neighborhood parish, St. Mary of the Assumption. Some of the most memorable moments of her life involved sharing holidays and other events with her children and grandchildren. She was loved by everyone who came to know her.
Visitation for Agata will be held at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 20.
The funeral service will be held that afternoon, at 1:30 pm, at the church of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 12 Centre Street North, Huntsville. Interment will follow at the Hutcheson Memorial Cemetery.
After the interment, there will be a reception at the hall of Saint Mary of the Assumption.
