John P. Oliver

John Oliver passed suddenly on October 20, 2024, at his home on Bella Lake. He will be loved always and forever by his 5-Pod: his wife and best friend Judy Oliver (nee Muir); his girls, Alix Oliver-Donald (Matt Donald), Bizzy Oliver (Lloyd Thomas), and Jacqueline Kielo (Matt Kielo); and his boy Reville (pup).

Much loved brother of Chris Quinlan (John), Liz Herbison (Don), Shealagh Costello (Mick), and Martha Svacina (Fred); favourite uncle to his nieces and nephews; and one-of-a-kind friend to his many cousins and to countless people on Bella Lake, in Huntsville and Brantford, and beyond.  He was predeceased by his loving parents Kathleen and Leonard Oliver and his in-laws Margaret and Ken Muir.

John loved people and made friends everywhere he went.  An avid outdoorsman and animal lover, he enjoyed being in the woods or on the water; but he was never happier than with Judy and his girls by his side.

A founding partner of Braneida Mechanical, John enjoyed a long and successful career in Brantford.  He retired to the lake in 2020, where he spent the last years of his life surrounded by his family and close friends.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. The outpouring of love for him, from near and far, is testament to the joy that he brought to everyone who knew him.

John didn’t wish for any public services. The family instead hopes that you will share your memories of John with those you love - he loved a good story, and there are many to tell.  There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Please revisit Mitchell Funeral Home website for updates on arrangements. www.mitchellfuneralhome.ca

John always took care of others, so in lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to the Stedman Hospice in Brantford.
