Cecil "Darrell" Gilbert Bigelow

 
 

With great sorrow the family announces the peaceful passing of

Darrell Bigelow at Algonquin Grace Hospice on Thursday, June

27, 2024 at the age of 87. Devoted husband of June for 62 years.

Beloved father of Teresa, Anita (Frank), and Kevin (Andrea).

Grandfather of Alyssa (James), Rachel (James), James,

Mary-Grace and Aiden. Great-Grandfather of Ethan and

Benjamin. Loving brother of Shirley and sister-in-law Zeta.

Predeceased by his parents Joseph & Lillian Bigelow, siblings

Eric (sister-in-law Violet), Marjorie, Alex, and brother-in-law Bob.

Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Darrell was born June 2, 1937 in Dorset, ON where he spent

many days of his youth. As a young man he moved to Toronto

where he met the love of his life June, who he married on June

23, 1962 in Newboro, ON. In 1967 they packed up the U Haul and

happily headed north to Huntsville.

Darrell worked as a labourer most of his life and was always

willing to give a helping hand to family, friends and neighbours.

He had a love of nature which included hunting, fishing and

farming. Country and bluegrass music brought him

Immense joy and comforted him during his final days.

Darrell will be profoundly missed, forever loved and cherished by

all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend St Andrews Presbyterian

Church, 1 High Street for the funeral service Wednesday, July 3,

2024 at 11am. Graveside service will follow at Paint Lake

Cemetery in Dorset. For those who are able please join the family

at 2:30pm in Goforth Hall ,St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Special thank you to his church family for nourishing his soul and

loving on Darrell and June over the last several years. Please

continue to hold her close and lift her up in prayer.
