Scott, Lillian with great sorrow the family announces the peaceful passing of Lillian, surrounded by family, at Algonquin Grace Residential Hospice of Huntsville, Ontario on June 25, 2024.
Lillian, beloved wife of Godfrey “Scotty” (predeceased). Dear mother of Jim (Shirley), Gwen (Ron), Cathy, and Nancy. Greatly loved grandmother of Lisa (Clint), Doug (Amber), Tina (Chris), Andrea (Dylan), Maggie, Vanessa, Nita (Joel), Jon (Jess) and loving great grandmother to Daniel, Jaheim, Olivia, Iyana, Scotty, Rene, Holden, Bella and lastly her beloved puppy Coco.
Born March 25, 1932 in Toronto, ON, Lillian was the youngest of six to Rose and Tom Mackereth. Lillian and Scotty retired to Muskoka, ON in 1991 and as a woman of faith, she found lifelong friends through her love for church and the community. Lillian was a very special woman who gave generously of her time and wouldn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand to others, including strangers. She was thoughtful, kind, and had a great appreciation for anything humorous. Friends of Lillian will be able to reflect with love all the songs, jokes and skits that she performed over the years. She had a talent for making the best pastry (ever) and some specialties were butter tarts, pies, brownies, cookies, and lastly preserves. Sunday wasn’t Sunday without a Roast Beef dinner!
The family wishes to extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Matthew O’Halloran, Judith Braun, RN, Community Care nurses and PSW’s and the loving care from the team at Hospice for their professionalism and compassion.
At Lillian’s request, there will be no public visitation or service. Should you desire, donations to Algonquin Grace Residential Hospice Huntsville, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated by the family.
