Barbara Ellen Pickering

Our loving mother Barbara died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on February 27, 2025. Mom was born in Toronto on May 4, 1932 to parents John Morrison and Ellen Hughes.

She will be remembered for her generous heart, witty sense of humour, and strong will. Mom dedicated her life to others, expressed genuine interest in hearing about their lives, and offering them her inexhaustible love and support. With her family at home and colleagues at work, Mom lived each and every day with honesty, fairness, and above all, compassion.

Barbara is survived by her children, Mark (Barb), Ellen, Mathew (Mary), Brett (Nadine), Stephenie (Thomas), Tamara (Rick), Luke, and pre-deceased by her son Dane, and husband Lorne. Survived by her grandchildren, Alex, Dylan, Sanjay, Rani (Eric), Sky, Jazz, River, Dayna (Garitt), Samuel, Connor, Rachael, and her great grandchildren, Rylan, Kayley, Lincoln, Theodore, and Atticus. Survived by her brother Ernest (Evelyn) and sister-in-law Lily; predeceased by Donald (Ramona), Edward (Jean), Vernon (Mary), sister-in-law Rosemary, Dorothy (Paul). Beloved by all family and friends.

It was Mom’s wishes that there would not be a service with visitations at this time. There will be a celebration of life at a time to be determined. Please check back here in future for the celebration of life details.
